Butter chicken is a popular Indian dish that is made with tender chicken pieces cooked in a creamy tomato-based sauce, enriched with butter and spices. Here's a simple recipe to make butter chicken at home:


Ingredients:

- 500 grams boneless chicken, cut into small pieces

- 1 cup plain yogurt

- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste

- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder

- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

- 1 teaspoon cumin powder

- 1 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1 teaspoon garam masala

- 1 teaspoon kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)

- Salt to taste

- 1 tablespoon oil

- 2 tablespoons butter

- 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped

- 2 medium-sized tomatoes, finely chopped

- 1/2 cup cream

- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing


Instructions:


1. In a mixing bowl, add chicken, yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, kasuri methi, and salt. Mix everything well and marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.

2. Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Add marinated chicken and cook until it turns golden brown on all sides. Remove from the pan and keep it aside.

3. In the same pan, melt butter on medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.

5. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool down for a few minutes.

6. Once it cools down, transfer the onion-tomato mixture to a blender and blend until smooth.

7. Pour the blended mixture back into the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.

8. Add cooked chicken to the pan and mix everything gently. Cook for another 5-7 minutes.

9. Add cream to the pan and mix everything well.

10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
